Our team is proud to partner with Imperial Seed Ltd. Soil health and regenerative agriculture is the direction we have practiced over the past 8 years. Imperial has been an integral piece to our successes and improvements. We hope we can share some of our experiences and some of what we have learnt (or at least questions to ask) to help you build profitable and sustainable crops.

Imperial Seed Ltd. is an accredited seed processing facility focused on the multiplication and processing of proprietary forage and turf seed. Seed production is facilitated through a network of seed growers.

Forage Seed & Mixtures

Poundmaker

Adapted to most production areas. Poundmaker is ideally for 1 or 2 cut systems.

Haymaker

Our top selling hay blend. We combined imperial select alfalfa blend with grasses that offer diversity. This combination should deliver a long term productive hay stand.

Hi-GestTM Alfalfa technology improves fibre digestibility and forage quality while maintaining yield, persistence and multiple pest resistance.

AAC Trueman Alfalfa

Extensive rhizomatous and deep root structure provides superior performance on poorly drained soils with extreme persistence. With added levels of drought tolerance, AAC Trueman brings another layer of protection compared to traditional alfalfas.

Elodie Tall Fescue (reg pending)

Very fine leaves with high mass formation. A soft leaf variety

Raskila Meadow Fescue (reg pending)

Cover Crop Seed/Mixtures

Hay, pasture & green manure. Imperial Seed introduced TERRA GOLD cover crop mixtures. Soil benefits include organic control of soil pests. In addition, the soil receives large quantities of organic mass, which has a beneficial impact on the humus balance. A higher humus content can reduce erosion and increase the soil’s ability to store water. The TERRA GOLD mixtures have been designed for specific crop rotation systems and fulfill various functions:


Terra Gold Extend

Maximize the growth opportunity with full season production. The addition of pea and oats to TG Extend will deliver summer hay/silage with regrowth potential for fall grazing.

Fast establishing warm season blend for hay. Japanese millet and forage collards give good regrowth for grazing or ground cover.

Terra Gold Soil Enhancer

Radish absorbs soil nitrogen and other key nutrients with a unique taproot. Clovers convert atmospheric nitrogen into plant available nitrogen.

Terra Gold Fall Grazer

A mix of warm and cool season grasses. Plantain provides extended grazing with high sugar content. Collards add stable production and high feed quality.

Terra Gold Saline

Combination of saline tolerant species to help cover the ground and re-establish microbial activity. Best left to rot on the surface over winter.

Terra Gold Pollinator

A mix of annual and short lived perennials that attracts bees & feeds beneficial insect populations. It improves the soil while being a beneficial pollinator sanctuary. University of Manitoba is currently evaluating the NEW TG Pollinator Blend with growers in Manitoba. Please ask for additional details. Buckwheat, Sunflower, Balo Brand Phacelia, H.O. Brand Crimson Clover, Imperial Select Alfalfa, Sainfoin, Intermediate Wheat Grass, Laser Brand Persian Clover, Chicory, Serradella, Alsike Clover, Red Clover S.C.

Terra GOld Rejuvenate

A great grazing crop for all species of livestock that will provide multiple grazings and contain several overwintering species for spring grazing in year two. It will help bring in old pastures back to life while increasing grazing production, this blend is meant for grazing and is not recommended before cash crops.
